Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Chicago Schaumburg

The front desk staff were all very nice, but housekeeping was awful. I got clean towels, but the bed wasn't made, the sink wasn't cleaned, and none of the other usual tasks were done. On weekends there is no housekeeping, so you have to take dirty towels to the lobby and exchange them, and go down for things like soap or garbage bags too. There was also a booking mix-up: I reserved one room for five nights on the website and got a receipt for that amount, but the confirmation call had me down for five rooms for five nights each. They corrected that, but when I arrived the first room hadn't been cleaned. The second room was nice, if dated.

I left an 18k Gold chain worth more than 5000 dollars behind when I picked up my belongings. The cleaning person came through a few hours later, and I was told they hadn't found anything. They said they couldn't question her because there was no proof of a robbery. How is that possible? The cleaner was the only person who came by the room. Who else could have taken my 5,000 dollar chain over those two days? I waited for the manager, but she was never at the hotel. I wasn't even staying there, and this has been awful. Very bad place, I don't recommend it and I'll never go back 😢 😔

Breakfast really needs work. There was barely anything left, and after waiting for a table we stood in line for food too. We spent at least 30 minutes in the breakfast area, and the food was only replenished during that time. The rooms themselves were very nice, with a great kitchen in the room, and it seems like it would be a good place for a stay of several nights.

The room was clean and pleasant, and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was just okay, though having a kitchenette helped make up for what it lacked. This seems like a decent value stay. There isn't housekeeping on weekends, but you can get supplies from the front desk. My one annoyance was the smoke detector right above the bed, blinking all night.
