The hotel has a lot going for it, and the female shuttle driver was cheerful and communicated clearly with guests. But the front desk experience was frustrating. When I called on the 10th at 8:35 AM about my deposit, the woman seemed unwilling to look up my booking or confirm whether it had been returned. I had to keep insisting and give her my booking number before she checked, then she hung up as the call was ending. On arrival, we waited almost two hours for the pickup. I kept calling for a straight answer about whether and when the shuttle would come, but got conflicting information. It did eventually arrive, though the lack of transparency was upsetting. The desk staff seemed more interested in their phones than helping, and there was little patience or hospitality. With better training and guest service, this hotel could improve and attract more customers. I’m sharing this sincerely in the hope they make those changes.

After a three-hour drive, I only needed a bed for five hours before my flight. I’d lost my wallet two days earlier, and the deposit rules made an already bad night worse. It’s 2026 and they still don’t accept tap. I offered cash, but I understand why that wasn’t ideal in Chicago, which is considered the murder capital of the world. Still, a tap payment with a PIN should be possible. Holiday Inn and Wyndham do it, so why can’t Comfort Suites? The night shift guy AL was great. The policy and the whole establishment feel outdated, though, and there wasn’t much comfort in the experience. Maybe the owners will take this seriously. Never again. May God bankrupt Comfort Suites, amen 🙏

The room price looks economical until you find out there’s an extra $20 per night for parking. That fee doesn’t add any security, it’s just for using their lot, and once you include it, there are better places to stay. There were odd smells around the property, and stains on the carpet and lampshades made me question how clean it was. The furniture upholstery was shredded, so I didn’t even try opening the bed in the small couch. I was worried about what I’d find.

I spotted a bug crawling on the bed within seconds of entering the room. A quick Google search confirmed it was definitely a bed bug, so I left immediately and went back to the front desk. I hadn’t even put my luggage down, which was the one bit of luck. I spent the rest of my trip worrying it might have gotten into my clothes. I can’t say much about the room itself, but if one was visible without lifting the mattress, who knows how many were hidden. I arrived with low expectations and still found the experience awful. The staff understood and gave me a full refund right away, although I got the sense this wasn’t the first time they’d dealt with the problem. The cheap rate isn’t worth it.

After I waited an hour and a half in the rain for an airport shuttle they said they’d provide, I finally ordered an Uber. I’d called the hotel five times, and they promised to reimburse the ride. That money never came. Manager Danny Torres won’t take my calls now, despite that promise, and I’m convinced this sort of thing happens regularly. The rooms are run down, and I feel the staff lie to customers and cover for him. I contacted Choice Hotels’ corporate office, but all they did was leave a message for the owner. I haven’t heard from him either. I’d still like a response from Choice Hotels, since no one at any level has answered me. UPDATE: Thanks for the well-written apology. It’s strange to ask me to contact you offline when I tried at every level and got no reply. That was part of why I posted this review. I’ll keep communicating online since that seems to work best. When should I expect the promised reimbursement for my transfer?
