Four Points By Sheraton Santa Cruz Scotts Valley

The bartender was nice when I had dinner at the bar, but the front desk service was horrible. The TV speaker in my room was so poor that you had to sit right next to it. The manager expected me to pack all my things, bring them downstairs, get a new key, and move rooms. I felt they should have put me in a room with a working TV. This is the Four Points Sheraton, not some no-tell motel. After the way I was treated at the desk, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The reception music was extremely loud until 10 PM, even with our window shut, and afterward the wedding guests kept making noise in the hallway outside our room late into the night. The wedding party also took over our floor during the day, with lots of foot traffic, and parking was affected. We’d booked two nights at Four Points Sheraton Scotts Valley expecting a peaceful stay and access to the amenities advertised, including the on-site bar and restaurant. Nobody told us during booking or check-in that a large wedding would disrupt normal guest use. We only found out that evening, when we went down for a drink, that the bar was closed for the private event. Our only choice was the small pantry, where we bought canned drinks like Truly. For this price, that was disappointing. Hotels do host events, but guests should be told beforehand if amenities will close or an event will limit access. The manager on duty apologized when we raised it, but the stay didn’t match what was advertised or expected, and didn’t reflect our status as Marriott Bonvoy members. Our window faced the outdoor terrace where the reception took place.

Trevor and Jackie were a big help, and everyone we met was friendly. Whenever coffee or water was running low, we just asked and it was replaced quickly. My husband and I booked a king suite through Expedia, and it exceeded our expectations. It’s very close to Fasting & Prayer mountain and Salvation Army campsite. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.

I booked for a week and was very disappointed. The towels were old and the rooms outdated. There was no room cleaning service unless you asked the front desk, and then they said a “refresh” could be requested only every other day. The bathroom sink had a broken drain cover that kept it from draining. The website was false advertising, with pictures of steaks on the menu, but the actual food was just finger foods like burgers and fries. At 8 PM, the bar server told me the grill had already been cleaned and the restaurant was closed for the night, even though the website and staff said it closed at 9. I’d never stay here again.
