Travelers Place Inn & Suites

It’s a pretty big place with plenty of rooms, and the area is fairly quiet. I didn’t see any threatening people around. The staff seemed like a small crew but were busy, and there was active cleaning. Wi-Fi worked, and the hot water had great pressure. A few little things need repairs, like uneven tiles. Sure, it’s no Hilton, but it was a pleasant stop and a brief break from traveling. Running a quiet place like this on a budget can’t be easy. More stars could mean more money, then more business, staff, and upgrades. God bless these places.

The floors were dirty and the tub wasn’t clean, and the price wasn’t cheap enough for that. When I arrived, they said they needed a $25 deposit, which I didn’t have, and told me to come back the next day. Then they’d raised it to $50. They refused to refund my money and wouldn’t give me a key to the room I’d already rented, leaving my things locked inside where I couldn’t get them. If they required a deposit, they should’ve included it in the price. I wouldn’t recommend this dump.

The bed was fairly comfortable, but little else about the room was good. I had to wait two hours past check-in because it wasn’t ready, so I expected it to be fairly clean. The carpet didn’t look vacuumed, the sink clearly hadn’t been cleaned, and there was a used towel behind the bathroom door. I might still have given it two or three stars for the bed, but my hot shower turned cold after two minutes. One star feels like too much.

I messed up my online reservation, but when I arrived they were understanding and helped me get what I needed. They’re kind, open, good-hearted people, and I’m really grateful they helped me sort it out. It’s simple rather than fancy, but homey and comfortable, with everything necessary. The room was clean and bug-free, the shower was hot, and the AC and fan worked great. It was peaceful and quiet, with groceries, fast food, and churches only a few minutes away. I don’t need the upgrades and luxuries of overpriced hotels, and keeping things basic lets them charge fair, affordable prices. If you’re not too high-class and just want somewhere clean, comfortable, and affordable, I’d highly recommend Travelers Place. I felt at home for two nights, for the same price or less than one night at a fancy hotel. Can’t beat that.
