The Aiden was a great find for my stay in Scottsdale this week. It showed up at the right price with great reviews, and I was impressed. Over the past five years I’ve stayed at 30-plus hotels in Phoenix and nearby, sometimes booking directly through the Best Western app, so it’s surprising I hadn’t come across it before. I’d asked in advance for a room with a bathtub if one was available. The property thoughtfully called to say they didn’t have bathtubs and offered to let me cancel even though I was outside the cancellation window. I kept the booking. The parking lot was well lit, on a quiet street, and near several food options. The front desk staff were lovely even though I checked in fairly late. The rooms and shared spaces are impressive for a Best Western that isn’t a Best Western Plus. There’s even a cute outdoor spot where smokers can sit away from others. I didn’t get to use the gym or pool, but their kindness and flexibility mean I’m sure I’ll stay again. Thanks to everyone who made it a great visit!

The rooms and pool area were nice, and the hotel itself was sufficient, but service was lacking during our three-night soccer tournament stay. The first night I asked for extra towels and sheets for the pullout bed, and they never arrived. I also asked Bryon for a late checkout. He said he’d check with housekeeping and call in ten minutes, but never did. Quiet time at the pool is 10:00pm-7:00am, yet at midnight the music and party were still going outside our room. The worst issue was that management allowed a prostitution sting to happen while 40 teenage girls and their families were staying there for the tournament. It was all out in the open, three rooms down from us. That is unacceptable, and we’ll be filing a complaint with USYS about using this hotel for future tournaments. We didn’t get to choose our hotel because USYS assigns them. This isn’t what our daughters need to see.

We were at the Aiden for our Barrett Jackson car club event, and the location was very convenient. The hotel also provided a shuttle to the event. The place was clean, the rooms were well appointed, and management and staff were super friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend it, and our club will be back next year!

I’d stay here again, though I’ll remember to bring my own makeup wipes. I had a clean King Suite, room 310, with a nice view of the courtyard and pool. The shower was nice with good water pressure, and the fridge, freezer, and microwave worked well. Staff were very friendly and attentive, always greeting me with a smile. One staff member even pressed the elevator button before I reached it. Parking is free with plenty of spaces. I was here for five days on a business trip. It’s across from Shea Hospital, close to outpatient medical and surgical facilities and restaurants, with shopping and easy freeway access. Sky Harbor Airport is about 30 minutes away, and you can fill up cheaply at the nearby Shell and still have a full tank when returning your car. The building is large, with a long walk to the elevator but an ice machine nearby. The windows aren’t very soundproof: a young kids’ sports team was outside shouting loudly past 9pm. I didn’t notice any hallway cameras; with all the turns and corners, I hope they’re there and hidden. A few room details weren’t ideal. The bathroom faucet is so close to the sink edge that water gets all over the counter. There’s one disposable makeup wipe, along with a dark washcloth labeled “Make Up” for removing makeup. Mine had bleach spots, and because it’s dark, you can’t see possible stains left by someone before. I didn’t like that and would prefer disposable wipes because you can’t see bacteria from a previous guest. The bath towels are rough but do the job. Housekeeping is only available if requested the day before. I didn’t need it since I keep my space clean, but others may find that off-putting. Breakfast isn’t included like it is at other Best Western PLUS properties; this is an affiliation, so they aren’t required to include it. It costs $10 per person per day for all you can eat, with free coffee in the morning. To me, it was too continental, with only a couple of hot options for that price. There’s a full bar open daily until midnight. They ran out of coffee lids during my stay, which made my morning drive a bit stressful when I wanted to take coffee in the car. For a two-star hotel, and compared with other Aiden properties, this Scottsdale one is a good choice.

The staff were really friendly, the place was clean, and the whole vibe was great. The bartender makes a great margarita, too. We stayed for the open and had an awesome time. I left my sweatshirt in the room, and they mailed it back to me. I was very impressed, and we’ll be back.
