Howard Johnson by Wyndham Scottsdale Old Town

For a quick night before our stay at Great Wolf, this worked out really well. The room layout was even better to me than where we were headed: two beds in the main room, plus a smaller separate room with another bed that my teenager liked having to himself. Everything was clean and the office staff were friendly. Shops and restaurants were an easy walk away, and I felt safe walking alone to a nearby coffee shop early in the morning. At first the renovated old motel look struck me as a little dodgy, and my oldest son said he and my husband saw a sketchy person going into a room, but we had no problems ourselves. I’d stay again if I needed to.

For the price, the room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, with a coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. The large tub and good water pressure were nice too. Breakfast was standard. My spouse and I are both over 6 feet, so the low shower heads were awkward, and the beds weren't especially comfortable. Still, the overall quality and price were good.

The pool deck and hot tub were clean and kept at just the right temperatures, and the complimentary continental breakfast had very fresh fruit. My room was roomy, with a firm, comfortable bed, great pillows, and a TV with lots of channels and excellent reception. The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to respond. The hotel was extremely clean and recently renovated, and its location made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and tourist spots. The airport was about a 10-minute drive away. I’d absolutely book again.

Fine for an affordable one-night stop on a road trip. The bed was comfortable, but the room felt small and the modern updates were nothing special. Staff were pleasant enough. Road noise and people walking by could get loud, and breakfast was mostly dry goods. So-so, but it did the job for one night.
