We could only open one window, the one facing the beach, to hear the ocean. The other two windows and the sliding glass door had no screens. The bed was so lumpy and uncomfortable it felt about 30 years old, and I can usually sleep on anything. The place also seemed not to have been cleaned after the previous guests. The beds were made, but the floors didn't look swept, and the dishwasher detergent packet was still sitting unused in its slot. On top of that, our door code changed while we were out walking the dogs one morning. A guest next door was home and managed to contact the owner for us. The beach view and how close it was were absolutely five out of five. Everything else my wife and I dealt with was two out of five at best. The water heater was broken and took two days to get fixed. The beach access stairs were broken, leaving a five-foot drop, so we were lucky we could use the stairs at the property next to Beachcomber.

The rooms were clean, and the kitchen had the basic supplies. An extra bathroom would have been nice. Outside the cottages, there are loads of blackberry spines, and the area feels neglected.

We had six people and two dogs with us, and there was plenty of space for everyone. It was a lot of fun, and we were already looking forward to coming back. The cottage has a private bedroom downstairs and three beds upstairs, plus a firepit. It's pet friendly, too. The view was amazing, and there's private access to the beach. Inside, it was remodeled, comfortable, and really nice, with a full kitchen and actual full-size appliances. What a nice surprise to find new owners who are making the place a gem. It looks like they're still working on some units, but don't let that put you off when you first pull in.

The deck had a spectacular view, though it was partly blocked from inside unit 1. Parking was great, and the place was functional. But it fell well short of what I expected, and I won't be coming back. It has potential and seems to have had some updates, but it needs a thorough deep clean. I had to wipe down all the surfaces myself because they hadn't been dusted. Winged termites came out of the bathroom at night. The bedspread and shams were stained, so I took them off and used my own blankets. The sheets looked freshly changed but weren't fully clean. The bathroom was teeny tiny, and big or tall friends would struggle in the shower. The ceilings were oddly low, too.
