Discovery Inn

So rude!!!!!!!!!! I paid good money for a room, and at 7 p.m. the owner called me a jerk and said I was going in and out too much. I tried to ask what he meant, but he went into the office and pointed at the office hours like that answered me. I was just moving into the room for the night. Did it occur to him I might be going in and out because I was carrying my stuff inside?

The location worked really well, with shops and restaurants an easy walk away. Big Sur is only about 30 minutes off, so you get the conveniences nearby without paying the higher prices right on the coast. Great value, and we'd come back. The room was spotless and well kept, and the staff were truly friendly and helpful. Their service made the stay memorable.

For what it costs, this place gives you more than you'd expect. The rooms aren't large, but they're clean, look nice, and have what you need. Definitely worth the price.

We booked a weekend in Monterey CA for my girlfriend's birthday, hoping for a peaceful stay. Instead, on the first morning, workers were on the roof above us with hammer drills pounding overhead. What a way to wake up. The owner or manager could have kept that one room off the market while the work was happening, but seemed determined to rent every room even to tourists trying to relax. Money makes some people lose their minds.
