Sand Castle Inn

The price was really reasonable for this area, especially for a room this clean and comfortable. We liked how easy the WiFi was to get onto, and the door code meant no keys to keep track of. When our cable stopped working, the front desk came over quickly and found it was just a loose connection. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, parking was plentiful, and it was close to where we needed to be. We’d stay again!

There was construction for electric vehicle charging stations while we were there, but it caused us no problems. The property was very clean, and our room had a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and flat-screen TV with some common channels. The staff were wonderful with guests, friendly and accommodating.

At first the place seemed nice, but once we went to bed in the room above the office, we felt little tremors every ten minutes or so. We initially thought they were one of those small Bay Area quakes, but the shaking kept happening, and both my girlfriend and I noticed it. I wondered if passing cars might shake a poorly built building, but that's only speculation. Around 10:30 pm I went to the office, which was closed, and I assume the owners were asleep. When I told the man there what we'd experienced, he seemed annoyed to be disturbed and just said, “there is no shaking.” We couldn't sleep, and his response felt dismissive, as if I was wasting his time. He asked what I wanted him to do, when I expected him to do his job and make it right. I had to ask whether there were other rooms. He said no, though I could see rooms available to reserve online. We left and stayed at a similarly priced IHG hotel. I support small businesses, but it wasn't worth dealing with rude, ununderstanding service when chain hotels were only $10-20 more per night and offered a drama-free stay. The bathroom was huge, and check-in was easy. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, and the TV worked great. The rooms were super clean. The bed was okay for us. Good value, and I’d recommend staying here. I’ll come back.
