Seaside Inn

The location was the one good thing for me. The room wasn’t too bad, but the AC or refrigerator made noise constantly, and the beds were so small we barely slept. The toilet didn’t flush properly, and the TV kept muting itself. Something was definitely wrong with it. Sorry, but I can’t really recommend this motel.

I booked two nights at what I thought was the best price, $40, then got home from my trip and found a $77 charge. The billing left me disappointed and feeling like something wasn’t honest. If you stay, ask for an itemized receipt and confirm the total before you leave.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and they were cleaned each day. The location is central, in an area that’s neither the best nor the worst. The bathroom sink drained slowly. A nice young staff member came right away and tried Draino and hot water, which helped some, but it really needed a plumber. Parking is limited too. One Saturday night there was no space, so I parked at the nearby mall, only a few feet away. My main concern was what happened to my bag. I put my travel bag and purse in a drawer one morning. When I got back that night, the drawer and purse were open. I’d taken my valuables with me, but it was very unsettling to find someone had gone through my things. Before checkout I raised it with the owner, who I believe runs this family business. She was rude and immediately said nobody had been in my room. I explained that the housekeeper had cleaned it that day, and I’d even asked whether she would be cleaning. The owner backed her housekeeper, saying she’d worked there for years, and basically made me feel she thought I was lying. I’ll never stay at this inn again. If you do, take your valuables with you whenever you leave, as I did. A friend stayed at the Hyatt resort in Monterey Bay, and it sounded like a much better option, with a golf course, great breakfast, live jazz, and a spa.

We were really pleased with the room and the look of this cute, no-frills inn for the price. The flowers around it are lovely, and the place has lots of character. The fridge has plenty of room, and there’s a microwave and coffee maker with super tasty coffee. The bed was soft, the water pressure was great, and the hair dryer worked well. It’s also handy for walking to Panda express, McD, and Sand Dollar shopping center, with a nice laundromat close by. I agree with other reviewers that it deserves at least a 4.7 on Google Reviews.
