Red Caboose Getaway

Our one-night stay was nice, and the rail cars are such a cute, unusual idea that I’d come back to try a different one. The room could use some basic updating and a more thorough clean: there was dog hair on the decorative bedding, dust on the fan and fixtures, and I had to deal with a few spiders crawling around.

The car was adorable, and the staff were helpful over the phone. I did struggle with the doors, which were really hard to lock and unlock. Curtains would have helped with privacy and blocking the light.

Each caboose has its own decor, and they’re all warm and cozy. The place is quirky and fun, with a railroad feel that might turn you into a fan if you aren’t one already. Amenities differ from car to car, so look up the details for each caboose online.

I was cold even with the heat running, and the bedding didn’t help: the pillows were flat and the only blanket was extremely thin. The bed was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in.
