The rooms were in bad shape, and the first one was filthy, with popcorn crumbs on the furniture and baby roaches coming from behind a wall socket. I’d asked for noon early check-in and was told there’d be a $20 cleaning charge. Once the room was ready, they told me to give the cleaning guy $10 cash instead. When I went back to the desk to report the dirt and ask for another room, I got attitude. The replacement had blood on the chair, more crumbs, and what looked like signs of bed bugs along the bottom edges of the mattress. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the motel was easy to reach from the interstate. There’s a service station and convenience store nearby, which made it easy to fuel up before heading out. My room was clean, with no lingering cigarette smell, and the fridge and microwave both worked well. It’s an older place, though, and my room could use some work: there were small gouges in the walls, the shower grout needed scrubbing, and the clothes rack was pulling away from the wall, so I didn’t risk using it. The outlets also needed covers. I saw a couple of other rooms that looked like they’d been touched up, so maybe improvements are underway. I’d stay again for the location, clean room, staff, and price, and hope the upgrades continue.

The room didn’t look like the pictures on the Choice Hotels website, and I generally stay with Choice brands. I won’t be staying at a Rodeway Inn again. We’d come for a funeral on short notice, and this was closest to where we needed to be. The bathroom had no inside doorknob, and I got locked in several times. The beds shifted instead of staying against the headboard, and the old-feeling mattresses made the whole room slope to one side. The carpet was badly torn, and I kept stepping on the tack strip. There was caked-on old hair on the wall, and the lampshades were falling apart. The shower pressure was good, but water still got out even with the curtain inside the shower. The front desk guy said about two words to me. I guess you get what you pay for.

Being close to the interstate was the only good thing about this place. The room was cold even though the window AC/heat unit was set to 80°, and its filter was filthy and clogged. There was a language barrier when trying to communicate. The bathroom floor had dirt and hair on it, and the sink drained slowly and filled with water that had dirt particles floating in it while I tried to wash my hands or brush my teeth. The towels and washcloths looked dingy, almost like they weren’t clean, and felt like sandpaper. I tried to get coffee to go at 6:55 the next morning, but the doors were locked. I rang the bell to get someone to unlock them, and nobody came. The place reeked of Marijuana. I’m a Choice Diamond Member, but I won’t stay here again, and this place doesn’t deserve the Choice name.

I couldn’t get the front desk person to wake up and give me a room. I called three times and had to ask for the manager before she finally came out. The room looked comfortable at first, but once we turned on the lights it was clear they hadn’t vacuumed. The floor was dirty, and the bathroom had hair, fingerprints, and what looked like blood on the walls. The shower curtain wasn’t clean, and they’d left a dirty towel in the room. I wasn’t impressed. Negative review, and I don’t recommend it.
