A Cabin on the Cliff

That view is beautiful, and the cabin is nicely built, but it needs a lot of updating. The hot tub still works, though it’s old, and the hut shades are torn with many of the snaps missing. Inside has a dated feel, and some things, like the heating system, don’t seem to work fully. Still, it’s a great view.

We’d been to Seward in summer before, but visiting over Thanksgiving showed us how lovely the off-season can be. The cabin is right across from Two Lakes Trail, and we took the dogs there on several days, finding a different route each time. It’s quiet and beautiful, away from people and noise, and the views are hard to beat. A comfortable, unusual place to stay. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Seward.

A few years back, some friends and I spent my birthday at this cliffside cabin. The view was breathtaking, and I liked its historic feel. My friend and I saw a pale, ghostlike mist hanging around the kitchen, and downstairs felt spooky too. Has anyone else had an experience like that together?

We used to love staying here, but the quality has slipped every time we’ve returned. This visit the place wasn’t very clean, and we were charged too much. The hot tub cover is broken, with lots of styrofoam from it floating in the water. The view is still amazing, but it doesn’t make up for the other problems. We’re very unlikely to come back.
