Shaver Lake Village Hotel

The mountain style rooms are cozy, and the property is beautiful. My family and I are already looking forward to returning. We were rushing to a wedding and feeling stressed, but Jamie at the front desk made our stay easy and helped us get there on time. She was kind and accommodating, from confirming our booking to answering my early arrival questions when I was a little frazzled. Great hospitality can feel hard to find these days, but Jamie was a gem. She may not have been officially part of the wedding party, but I’m convinced she helped make sure we arrived on time. Next time I hope there’s less rushing, though I’ll still be glad if Jamie is there to save the day again.

The main issue for me was the old tub, where getting warm water for a bath felt impossible. It seemed to switch between boiling hot and cold. The WiFi worked well. The TV needs a personal Roku account, so we borrowed a couple of the movie DVDs they offer free to guests instead. We stayed over the weekend to ski at China Peak. The drive can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on whether the road is clear or covered with snow and ice. The rooms were clean and reasonably maintained, with wood interiors that give them a cabin feel. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but Aroma, which they own, is right across the street. A few other restaurants are within walking distance. This works well for a night or two if you’re in the area to ski or snowboard at China Peak or visit nearby snow parks in winter.

I’m a serious coffee drinker, and the Office Manager kindly lent me the coffee maker from the office so I could have hot coffee before my early morning fishing on the lake. The customer service was awesome! This was my first visit to Shaver Lake. Before arriving, I called and spoke with two different staff members over a couple of days. They knew the area well and gave me helpful suggestions for finding food and drinks.

We arrived today and got a very warm welcome at the front desk. Reina (I hope I spelled that right) did her best to help us with our room and kept looking for ways to assist. I really appreciate the effort. After the customer service we’ve received today, I’m expecting a very enjoyable stay!
