I travel for work and stay in hotels around Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Upper Michigan 5 to 12 days a month. This is a friendly, clean, affordable place, and the room cleaning routine is common at the hotels I use: staff leave guests alone unless they ask for service. Call the front desk by pressing zero if you need towels, washcloths, toilet paper, trash emptied, or your room cleaned. You can even ask them to come at a time that suits you, so you don’t get woken up at 8:00 in the morning.

The smell was awful this year, and even airing the room out all day didn’t help for long. As soon as we shut the window, it came back and got into the bedding. The building also felt humid no matter how low we set the AC. Housekeeping was another problem: the room was dusty, trash stayed put, and toilet paper wasn’t replaced. We had to ask for everything. We arrived with hardly any toilet paper, left the do not disturb sign off, and still came back to find it unchanged, so we went to reception for another roll. Breakfast was very limited too, and by the time we got there it was gone, so plan to eat nearby. We’ve stayed three years in a row because it’s so close to the USAir Raceway for the drift event, but the location was the only reason we booked. It’s dated and pricey for what it is, and after this worst year so far, we won’t be staying again next year.

We couldn’t stand the smell and left after only three hours. The room, beds, pillows, and heating and air system all smelled terrible. There was also very old, black moldy pizza left in the microwave, and nobody was at the desk when we checked out.

We booked a two-bed room for three nights, but the room was never cleaned and our garbage was left there. It was dusty, dirty, humid, and smelled disgusting. The toilet was bad, and water wouldn’t drain from the shower tub. When I told the front desk, the man brought a plunger for us to use ourselves. He said housekeeping wouldn’t be there until 10:30am and told us to wait for the manager. We had only been given two towels for four people, and when I asked for two more, the front desk guy was rude and said I had to bring the used ones down for replacement, but still wouldn’t give us more. Later, the manager was rude too. I told her the room hadn’t been cleaned and we needed towels, and she showed me a paper marked DONE and said that meant housekeeping had cleaned it. She just told me to talk to them, then rolled her eyes and asked, “And so WHAT, you need more towels?” So unprofessional.
