Comfort Inn Shelby

The hotel is centrally located, with lots of restaurants and other things nearby. We were there for a wedding, and our room was very clean. The staff were amazing and friendly, especially Lanisha, who was so warm and welcoming. One housekeeper, whose name I didn’t get, even stopped to help my disabled grandmother get ice. She didn’t have to, but went above and beyond. We’d stay again, 5/5.

The staff were friendly at check-in, but after that this was one of my worst hotel stays. My room wasn’t clean: the toilet seat had a “sanitize” sign even though it was visibly dirty, and I spent several minutes cleaning it. The floors were sticky in places and generally greasy and dirty. A white washcloth turned brown when I wiped them, and after showering my feet were discolored from walking to the bed. There was dried food and condiments on the desk. The cleaning staff left an envelope on it with “Courtney” on it, asking for a cash tip to be brought to the front desk. The tub in my room was clogged, and shower water rose above my ankles. My family had another room, where the smoke detector had no batteries and its battery compartment was open. Their room was also poorly cleaned and maintained, with grease spots on the floor that looked like something had spilled and never been cleaned up. I spent 16 years in the army, sometimes in rough conditions, and it’s unfortunate that this place was worse than some of those experiences, while costing money. I won’t stay here next year when I visit family in the area.

I’ve been coming to the Comfort Inn for years during work and personal trips to western NC. Shelby has lots of great places to eat and shop, and the Comfort Inn is clean and comfortable. Everyone on staff is a pleasure to deal with. I’ll be back soon. God Bless ❤️

Ms Lanisha called after I completed a survey about how unwelcoming the service had felt. She handled my concerns so well that I felt like a true VIP, and her people skills could erase a guest’s negative experience. I always stay at your facility when I come home, but this visit was different. I arrived in Shelby on January 2, 2026 to attend my nephew’s funeral, and it was the worst visit I’d had there. Now, with a manager like Ms Lanisha, I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. She shows your commitment to quality service for everyone who requests it.
