The staff were very friendly, and the room was updated with furnishings like other Residence Inn places we’d stayed at recently. The room darkened well, too, and the AC worked fine. Those were the good parts. There were too many problems with the room: the bathroom vanity floor was sticky, a tile was loose, the toilet paper holder was barely attached to the wall, and only one stove burner worked, at half heat. Breakfast was still going for another half hour when I went down, but much of the food was already gone. There was half a scoop of scrambled eggs, part of a sausage, an empty tray, and no bagels. The attendant told another staff member she was winding down the food. When I asked for a bagel, she said there wouldn’t be any more for four days. The food labels were still out. I’d paid for breakfast and expected to get breakfast while it was being served. We’re moving across the country and had a lot to load, so we needed a cart. There was just one for the whole complex. I took two backpacks and three suitcases to the car and saw two employees bring the cart over from another Marriott property with two armloads of groceries on it, which they could have carried by hand. The cart was still gone when I came back, and on my next trip I saw two employees using it again, this time for two gallons of bleach. They even commented on how much I was carrying. When I complained as I was leaving, the employee said he’d call the manager. I waited 15 minutes, then left. I hoped to hear from her, but after five days I decided to post this. I’ve been a Marriott Elite member for almost 15 years. In my opinion, Marriott needs to remove this location from its group.

Our one-bedroom suite booking turned into a studio. The room also looked worn, with a window that seemed to have been sprayed or painted over. Breakfast wasn’t appealing to us, so we went elsewhere to eat. My biggest concern was the door security. The deadbolt didn’t work, and the other safety latch was ineffective because there was a large gap around the frame. The hotel was clean, and the staff seemed to be working hard, especially for an older property, but maintenance and the overall experience need attention. I’m leaving this so other travelers and families can make an informed choice about where to spend their money. Better maintenance and room quality could make this a much better stay.

The WiFi kept dropping its already poor connection, so it was basically unusable. The air conditioner made a very loud bang whenever it turned on, day or night, and the dishwasher leaked onto the floor. The place felt extremely dated and the room hadn’t been properly cleaned. My feet turned black from the filthy carpet. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling in room 209 and rust on the tub. The toilets needed two or three flushes. I also found an adult toy charger beside the bed, and there were stains on the beds, walls, doors, and other surfaces. The bedroom doorknob was almost completely broken off. The main room door didn’t close all the way, and its deadbolt didn’t work. The room was incredibly dark and underwhelming.

Breakfast was the one good part, with lots of variety and food that was well prepared. The rest of the stay was disappointing. We chose the hotel for the indoor pool, then found out it had been closed for at least a week. Nobody I spoke with knew when it would reopen. The room was mostly clean, though there was a little mold in the shower. Internet came in five-minute bursts followed by ten to fifteen minutes without service, so it was completely unreliable and useless. I won’t return and can’t recommend the place. Thumbs down.

The staff were friendly, but helpless. This was easily our worst Marriott experience, and as a Titanium Elite member, I’m thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. The hotel is severely outdated, and the cleanliness was beyond disappointing. Our dishes and bathrooms were dirty, and we had to use our own blankets. We went through several cans of Lysol trying to get rid of the odor. The HVAC unit was so loud it shook the room whenever it kicked on, and we couldn’t sleep. Then our toilet overflowed, leaving water all over the bathroom floor. Maintenance came quickly, but housekeeping never showed up. My kids and I had to use towels to clean up. At the front desk, the man told me, “There is nothing I can do,” then handed me two plastic bags and told me to put the dirty towels in them and clean the bathroom. The basketball court was in terrible shape, with the rim hanging on by two screws. That’s a huge safety hazard, and I’m shocked it’s in that condition. Because of Mardi Gras, nowhere else had availability. We spend thousands of dollars with Marriott every year, but this stay felt like paying to be a prisoner. I’m appalled that Marriott represents this hotel. I gave it one star only because I had to put something. This reflects the hotel management.
