Candlewood Suites Shelbyville by IHG

We felt like part of the family right away. The front desk agent was amazing and really welcoming, and the people were friendly. We got great value for the money. We had two first-floor rooms, and both were clean and in great shape. I loved staying here.

The air conditioning blows into the blinds; I took a photo to show it. The side door leads to a badly designed parking lot, and you can't get back in with your key. Sink and shower pressure are both very low. They charge $140 a night without serving breakfast, and there are no hot tubs available. The front desk people are quick with you and inexperienced. Overall, a 2 out of 10 experience. The attached photo backs up what I'm saying.

We stayed five nights, and I’m still puzzled by the 3.9-star rating. We’re picky about hotels, but this one was fantastic. The rooms and building feel new, everything was super clean and quiet, and we had a nice view of the golf course behind the hotel. Our kitchenette was well equipped, and the staff were friendly throughout. There’s no breakfast, though at the bargain rate we found online, that didn’t bother us. The free coffee bar and market with a good range of things to buy were handy, and the guest laundry has free washers and dryers. Ash at the front desk deserves a special mention for consistently cheerful, excellent service. We’d happily stay again if we pass through Shelbyville.

We loved our stay. The rooms were clean and well equipped, and the staff were friendly. The place is beautiful, too. Prices were great when we visited, though I imagine they change depending on the day and local events.
