Quality Inn & Suites Shelbyville I-74

We came back twice in July 2025 and would stay here again if we're passing through. It's quiet, comfortable, and clean, and the quality is good for the price. After a parking lot fender bender following checkout, the manager was generous about letting us spend half the day in the lobby and breakfast area.

Room 116 smelled bad, the carpet was dirty, there was no shampoo, and piles of lint or hair were on the floor. My son and wife were across the hall, but we never got the smell out. I thought the tub seemed too risky to use. The AC didn't work until the front desk person reset the breaker. I checked for bedbugs and didn't find any, though I was still concerned. There was a small brown stain on the sheet, too. Breakfast was decent. The donuts came from a bag, and the waffles were pretty good. This didn't meet the Quality Inn standard, and the place needs remodeling.

The room had a terrible smell, and some towels smelled strongly of mildew. I had a really bad stay, and ended up with ringworm from the bed. Cleanliness and sanitation clearly don't seem to be a priority here. I wouldn't recommend it.

I stopped here after a drive to get some sleep before continuing on, and the location worked very well. The room and service were both very good. It's an older hotel, but it felt safe and suited a one-night stop. Breakfast was limited, though enough to fill me up before getting back on the road. I'd likely stay again when traveling through.
