The Palomar Inn

Such a cute room, and VERY CLEAN. It had crisp white linens, a lovely bathroom, hair dryer, fridge, Keurig, microwave, huge flat screen smart TV, AC, and a little eating nook. There was also a safe and a darling outdoor sitting area with a fire pit. The front office staff were kind, and it took only a couple of minutes from asking about availability to getting into a room. The coastal access is a super short walk with stunning views, and nearby restaurants have excellent food and warm, friendly staff. I’ll stay here every time.

The location is beautiful, and I love Shell Beach. But the room was extremely small, perhaps suited to someone traveling alone, and it didn’t match the photo shown for the room we booked. The deadbolt didn’t work, which is a major safety issue, and the door wouldn’t close all the way. The woman at the front desk didn’t speak English, which made communication very difficult. She had to call someone on her cell-phone multiple times so we could talk. They also charged me for the full stay before check-in without having told me this would happen. When I asked the gentleman on the phone about it, he said, "well no one said we couldn't." What an odd thing to say. We didn’t stay even one night. We went to a much nicer hotel down the road and asked for a refund, which they gave us. That makes me think they know about the property’s issues and aren’t willing to change anything.

The Palomar Inn is a cozy, simple place with the essentials, and the front desk was accommodating. My bed and pillows were super comfy, and everything was clean and easy. The location is great. I had a nice stay for the night, but if you want grand or opulent quarters, this probably won’t suit you. Thanks for a comfortable stop.

We arrived early, at 5am, and the staff were really helpful in accommodating what we needed. The rooms were spacious and great, parking was easy, and the price was great too.
