Black Sands Inn

The Black Sands Inn made a great place to rest before and after our Lost Coast hike, and I’d stay again. We were there on May 11th and May 14th 2026, and both ground floor rooms were lovely, clean, and roomy. The hot tub felt great on our sore muscles. From the inn you’re right by the beach and tide pools, with waves and seals to hear, the sea air all around, and sunsets to watch. Gyppo Ale Mill Brewery is an easy walk for food, drinks, and hanging out with locals. There’s no reception on site. After self check-in, they text you the code for your assigned room, though the messages kept coming until we replied, to the point of being a bit irritating. My husband and I were both getting them.

We were a little unsure at first about getting extra supplies, but a gentleman was on site during the day and brought us more towels and K-cups. The beds were really comfortable, and the cafe within walking distance was a lovely place for coffee or breakfast. It’s a beautiful little inn, with nice amenities and a little cove right there to explore.

The ocean views and sound from room 10 were mesmerizing, and the room was huge, with a very comfortable bed, memory foam I think, lol. I was there for an overnight work trip and wished I could have stayed longer. The place was clean and comfortable, and the oceanfront setting made it special. Shelter Cove is peaceful and breathtaking, with waves to listen to day and night. Tessa, our VIP concierge host, was welcoming, attentive, and made everything go smoothly. The staff and their communication were phenomenal. I’ll be back, this time for a personal trip, and I’m already looking at my PTO calendar so I can properly enjoy the accommodations, staff, facilities, and surroundings. I highly recommend it for a beautiful, quiet coastal getaway. The views were among the most awe inspiring I’ve seen.

We live about 2hrs away and wanted a weekday getaway just before our anniversary. Room 7 was a one bedroom suite with a king size bed and full kitchen. We had a lovely time, and the coastal charm of Shelter Cove is hard to get enough of. Absolutely stunning. I’ll definitely come back.
