The Bentley Hotel Southampton

Our King suite was huge and nicely furnished, with a pleasant patio and fenced grassy area that worked great for the dogs. The service was friendly too, and the room itself was nice. But be aware they charged us $50 per night for pets on top of our Booking.com rate, adding $150 to the stay. If we’d known, we might have stayed somewhere else.

The hotel may be a beautifully renovated boutique property with an elegant country club feel and a playful vibe in an upscale part of the Hamptons, as described on the Hyatt website. But World of Hyatt members should know it does not take part in the loyalty program, despite appearing on the site and being advertised as a Hyatt. You won’t earn points, and the stay or transactions won’t show in your Hyatt account. There may also be a $25.00 resort fee on top of the room cost and taxes. In that respect, it’s like staying at any other lovely non-Hyatt property.

The rooms are huge, with modern, fresh, clean decor, and the kids liked the pull-out sofa beds. The bed was comfortable too. We were only there for one night, but had a great stay. The woman at check-in was lovely and accommodating, even with a small problem with their machine. It’s centrally located, with easy access to the main local areas.

The hotel said they couldn’t see anyone on the security cameras either time, but I had unexplained knocks at my room door more than once, including at 5:49 a.m. I was traveling alone for my 28th birthday and never felt safe. When the hotel wouldn’t take my safety seriously, I had to leave right away, go back to Manhattan, and spend $650 on another hotel. It ruined my birthday trip. Staying at the Bentley was a nightmare, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially anyone traveling solo.
