After a long, stressful drive through heavy snow, with our rental car sliding on 22A and an eighteen wheeler already tipped into a snow bank, we were grateful to find the Shoreham Inn nearby. Kevin and Scott got our group of six adults and an infant settled in, and kept dinner service open so we could eat. They even brought out cake and a candle for my sister’s birthday. Inside, the fire was crackling, the Christmas tree was beautifully decorated, and the antique furnishings were well kept. Our rooms were spotless, with decor full of Vermont history and charm. In the morning we had coffee, Kevin’s buttermilk pancakes, and a delicious yogurt parfait. Scott kept us company and helped us feel at ease after our sudden change of plans. We’re so grateful for that lovely, almost Hallmark movie-like stay on the eve of Christmas Eve.

The setting is peaceful and beautiful, and Middlebury’s town center is just a short drive away. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a comfortable bed, and everything was clean. The owners were warm and accommodating, going to great lengths to work around our food allergies and early morning departure.

Breakfast was a real highlight, made to order and served fresh and warm, with a nice variety from day to day. We also loved the drinks at the bar and the delicious pub food. Our Sheep Barn room was cozy, spacious, and clean, with a great shower and a very comfortable bed. The outdoor patio and yard were lovely too. Kevin and Scott were kind, attentive hosts who were always helpful. It was a treat to stay in such a beautiful historic place in a beautiful area. I had an amazing time and will definitely come back.

We had a lovely weekend at the Inn. It was a great base for bicycle rides in the area, with routes right outside the front door. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner and would happily come back.

We stayed in the Bird Room for one night. It was comfortable and clean, with an attached bathroom, and breakfast served by our hosts was delicious. The hosts helped make the stay enjoyable, and the atmosphere was great. Next time, we’d stay longer.
