The location worked well for getting downtown and to nearby places, and the front desk staff were fine. But at $240 a night for two queen beds, the room felt like poor value. It didn't feel clean enough to me, and the carpet needs a proper shampoo. The bathroom tile was cracked in several spots, and the sink felt so loose I worried it might come out when I turned the water on or off. The curtains were odd, and seeing the parking garage so clearly right beside the room felt uncomfortable. I wasn't sure the windows kept people from seeing in. Parking wasn't packed when we were there, though I can imagine it getting tight on a busy weekend. The rooms need an update.

Breakfast was pretty good, and the room had a TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Check-in was easy, and our keys worked fine, unlike what some other guests mentioned. Still, more than $300 a night felt like too much. The room was tiny and musty, and the air conditioner kept cycling without cooling properly, which made it hard to sleep. Street noise came through loudly, too. The area is convenient for the city and attractions, though it felt a little sketchy. Parking was free, but there weren't enough spaces for everyone. There's no pool, hot tub, or fitness center.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was the usual Comfort Inn spread, and I was surprised that they made the beds and replaced towels each day. The elevator to our third-floor rooms felt a bit sketchy, though it did work. We were adults traveling with a group of kids for an event and paid nearly $1.2K for three double rooms for two nights, which was far more than the stay was worth. The rooms were very small, especially the bathrooms. Room 313 was especially noisy the first night. In the morning, I opened the roll-up blind and found the window open, with no screen. It wouldn't close all the way, leaving about an inch of space, so I stuffed a towel into the gap. The lobby vending machine took my cash and didn't work. At the desk they said they knew about it, but there was no sign. Parking is limited; arriving late the first night, we had to leave the car right by the street instead of in a space. It's an old building with some charm, and perhaps it was repurposed as a hotel. It could work for a quick night if you need to be downtown, but it needs better care, and I wouldn't pay what we did to stay here again.

We came to KC mainly for Children's Mercy Hospital, so being nearby was a plus. The hotel itself was just okay, in an older building, and the room wasn't anything special. It had a king bed, a chair, a microwave, and a small refrigerator.

Breakfast was free and good, nothing fancy, and I'd stay again if I needed to. We were here for three nights over the weekend for Collect-a-con. The room felt kind of humid, but I'd read that in another comment and brought a fan. The elevator only fit two people, and there was some fighting in the parking lot. Even with that, it was a decent stay.
