Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Kansas City Liberty

Brittany was especially impressive. She was alone at the front desk, juggling several phone calls while checking us in and finding us a quiet room despite the LOT of rowdy teenagers staying for sports events. She stayed calm and professional and handled the calls and check-in with great customer service and phone etiquette. Our room was very clean, breakfast had plenty of choices, and the fitness room was small but adequate and clean. The only small downside was that the coffee was weaker than I like. All the staff we met were great.

Management helped us out after we accidentally booked a Sunday check-in instead of Saturday. They found us a room, which was more accommodating than every hotel would be. For our 2 night stay, we had a clean, tidy room that was a little small and somewhat dated, but had everything we needed and more for a comfortable visit. The Fairfield is just a few minutes from freeway 35, and a short drive or walk gets you to plenty of restaurants, including Longhorn Steakhouse, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Scratch Gourmet Kitchen, Waffle House, and Cracker Barrel. We’d book again next time we pass through Liberty Missouri.

The neighbors made noise all night, and after four painful nights I was ready to be done. The bed was broken, the mattress was stained, the toilet wobbled and sat low to the ground, and it was painful to use. The internet didn’t work either. I felt sick looking at the room and bathroom. This is an old, worn building from before it became a Fairfield, not a new model Fairfield at all. They charge a lot for a rundown place that feels like it should cost $39 a night, apparently because it carries the Fairfield name. The experience was awful, especially after we drove nine hours to get there. Corporate needs to shut it down and rebuild it from scratch. Do not waste your money here. Go to the Fairfield in Des Moines instead. That’s a brand new building.

The room was clean, but we chose this place for a one-night stay because we wanted a pool and hot tub. The hot tub was out of order, and the pool was SUPER COLD. They even had the AC blowing into the pool room. I was cold just sitting inside reading while my child tried to swim, and we lasted less than 10 minutes. Breakfast was okay, but I found a moldy packaged muffin. We came down at 7:15, 15 minutes after breakfast opened, and the coffee was already out. When I mentioned it, they said more had been made but not refilled. Then I saw the worker filling the items. It didn’t seem busy enough for them to have run out so quickly, and it looked like things hadn’t been stocked properly before opening.
