Wingate by Wyndham Richmond Short Pump

The room was clean, though shabby, with worn linens, peeling paint in several places, and chipped bathroom and tub fixtures. The caulking and grout looked poorly applied or maintained, and it all felt like a much lower-end property. The elevator smelled strongly of smoke. On the plus side, the front desk staff were friendly at both check-in and check-out, and the location and parking were convenient.

Kesia on the night shift and Shawna in the morning were so warm, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel and my room were extremely clean when I arrived, and I had a comfortable, relaxing stay. Breakfast was good: fresh granny apples, waffles, eggs, biscuits with sausage gravy, cereal, oatmeal, coffee and tea, and juices. I was glad cranberry juice was one of the options.

Shawna was super friendly and helpful, and the rest of the staff were excellent too. My room was clean and roomy, with fairly recent renovations and somewhat contemporary furniture and wall art, though nothing fancy. Free overnight parking was a nice perk. It's a very average hotel, and breakfast is complimentary from 6:30-9:30.

I was very disappointed and didn't feel the stay was worth the money. The front desk interaction felt flat, with no smile or welcome. The TV only showed static, the shower water was scalding hot, and one lamp had a sign saying there was no lightbulb. There were water spots on the bathroom mirror, no coffee maker or fridge, a hard bed, and lumpy pillows. It looks like they're trying to upgrade, but the paintwork isn't very professional.
