The room was spotless and the bed was great, which counted for a lot. The place is pretty worn on the outside, with junk couches scattered around, but we enjoyed its old-school feel. The staff was fantastic, and the woman working there was from WI too. They took care of anything we needed. Looks can be deceiving: we had a good time about a year ago and would stay again. A little fixing up could make this a hidden gem.

We had to drive another half hour to find a place to stay, and we're now trying to get a refund through expedia. My husband and I had booked a few hours ahead on expedia, but when we got there the hotel looked abandoned. The office number reached a woman who said she hadn't worked there in years. The other number posted on the door went unanswered, with no voicemail set up. We had booked a nonrefundable stay at what seemed to be an abandoned hotel.

I was crossing the country by bicycle and ended up sleeping in a public restroom because there was nowhere else to stay in town. The nearest hotel was 30 miles away in Riverton. Although the website let me book a room, the hotel was clearly not operating. It was deserted when I arrived, and neither of the two phone numbers on the door responded to my calls or texts. Awful absentee owners let this happen.

Management was great, friendly and helpful, and clearly working hard. The linens, appliances, and floor were clean, and the bed was comfortable. But the building is old and run down, with rust and mold, and the doors and locks don't work right. It needs to be torn down. I don't understand how the health inspector lets it stay open. After reading the other reviews, I wonder whether we were even staying in the same place.

The hot water never came on in either room, and the next morning Kristen told us the gas was out. When I asked for a refund, she said her boss had to handle it. At checkout, she told us to call instead. We've called and left messages several times without hearing back. We won't stay at any OYO properties again. We only needed a clean bed and shower, and we're usually pretty tolerant of little motels. I had read the reviews before booking, but went ahead because I like supporting roadside motels and they can get a bad rap. It was very dark outside, with less than half the lights on. During check-in I learned the internet was out, which meant no TV too. I was disappointed since we're on a big road trip, tenting most nights, and had hoped to relax with some TV, though really we just needed sleep and a shower. The colored bathroom tile was fun to see and felt true to the building's era. I tried to overlook the dead bug behind the toilet and ants on the floor. Then I saw the shower curtain was torn and tied up. I thought I could fix it, but when I let it down from where it was pinned, it was ripped into three pieces. I went to the office, rang the bell, and waited. When I told Kristen, the manager, about it, she said they didn't really give her the supplies she needed, but it was on the list. She gave me a key to another room. I ran the water for over five minutes there, and it still wasn't even a little warm. Kristen said she didn't know where the hot water tank was, but would look into it.
