Holiday Inn Express & Suites West by IHG

The room was good and the staff were friendly, so it’s frustrating that I left with a bad impression. I accidentally forgot my $200 electric toothbrush in the room and called the same night after checkout, but the hotel couldn’t find it. Since I reported it so quickly, I’d hoped they would do a more thorough lost-and-found search. I know mistakes happen, but losing an expensive personal item right after checkout was disappointing. I’m giving the stay one star based on this experience.

I’m very unhappy with how things went. On the second morning, no one was at the desk when I came down for breakfast. Around the corner I found a group of workers, including men deep in conversation as if guests didn’t matter. When I asked for a manager, I was told she wasn’t there and might come down once she woke up. I assume she was napping. Check-in felt rushed because the front desk lady was busy talking with a male guest while a lot of company was there. Later, I came back for towels for my family and waited a while. Phones seemed to be a big deal during check-in too. While waiting downstairs, I overheard the manager’s sons being very loud, and the lobby smelled like weed. I also watched them take snacks from the food area and tell the front desk girl to restock drinks, which felt unfair after I’ve paid good money to this company for years. Shouldn’t it be free to everyone? I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The service felt unprofessional and left me very displeased.

We’ve stayed here a few times because it’s close to the airport, and it has what we need: clean rooms, a fridge, and a microwave. The beds are comfy. The comforter is really warm, a bit too warm for me, but that was okay.

The room was spacious and nice and cold, if that’s what you like. Breakfast was okay, and I especially enjoyed the coffee and cinnamon roll. As a truck driver, finding a place to park can be tough, but I got a spot right across from the police station just in time, which made me feel secure leaving my tractor-trailer there. The front desk lady was kind and really helped me get a room. I had a great stay thanks to the hospitality at check-in, and I’ll tell my comrades where to stay if they need a layover.
