Super 8 by Wyndham Shreveport

The bed was so nice that I came back for a second stay within 10 days. The room had been renovated, and although the place is no frills, someone got up early on a Sunday to have coffee ready before I hit the road. It was good coffee, too. Such a nice bonus, thank you!

The airport is only minutes away, and the price was decent for the area. The room itself was clean and the plumbing worked fine, but we were in room 222 and a tack strip under the carpet, right where it met the tile between the sink and bedroom, pierced our feet. The carpet covered the tacks, but the pad didn't. We both got sore feet for three days, and by the second day the pain was bad enough that we barely walked and used peroxide and antibiotic ointment to bring down the redness. Three of our four feet got punctured. You can't keep shoes on the whole time, and stepping over that spot in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom is hard to remember. The airport location wasn't worth losing three days of pain-free fun. Other rooms may be fine, but we wouldn't stay at a Super 8 again. Breakfast was just two cereals in a plastic container, with milk only if you asked. There was no fruit or anything else that looked like food at 8:30 a.m. Between two coffee thermoses there was one cup of coffee, four sugar packets, and no milk, not much for two people. I think the clerk was also the housekeeper, since he was working in a room near the front when we went down for breakfast and checkout. He seemed too busy to deal with breakfast.

We slept well because the room was quiet, and it had hot water, a fridge, microwave, and cable TV. The room was clean, and the HOTSHOT parking was convenient. The young man at the front desk was polite and gave great customer service. I'd definitely stay here again.

Roaches were all over the place and came out at night. The hotel is filthy, and the front desk wasn't trying to help. They said the manager wouldn't be in until 8 a.m. Another room would have been the best solution, but at this point I just want a refund. I'll contact corporate.
