Hampton Inn Shrewsbury

The cleaning crew did a good job, and I have no complaints about them. The hotel itself is very old and needs remodeling. On our first night, the AC/heater rattled all night. I reported it, but there was no apology or attempt to fix the problem. As a Hilton Gold member who travels a lot, I was told they couldn’t upgrade me, even though the parking lot was very sparse each night. The older woman at the front desk seemed to dislike dealing with people. She didn’t greet us or smile, wouldn’t make eye contact, and was rude to us and, I heard, hateful to other guests. Guest service and valuing customers really need attention.

The room was spotless and breakfast was excellent. This was the best Hampton Inn I’ve ever stayed at. Our only issue was a slight burning smell from the heater. A mechanic said it was likely from a newly installed filter and should go away soon. When we checked out the next day, the front desk manager generously adjusted the bill and ended up not charging us at all. I only meant to mention the minor issue, but their response showed they listen to guests and try to make things right. I was truly impressed. Five stars.

The wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower was perfect for me. I’m a disabled vet and now use a wheelchair, and I can’t access the upstairs bathroom at home for a shower. There’s no bathroom on the first level, so this is my only solution right now. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is the dog barking late at night and early in the morning. I can deal with that, though. I have a service animal, and she isn’t loud.

The staff were engaging and helpful, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. It was a good location for my business visit. The breakfast buffet could use some improvement and updating.
