Gateway Studio Suites

We were both pleasantly surprised by this place. My wife and I were passing through Sierra Vista and expected the usual predictable chain hotel, but this one was much better than I thought it would be. The room was clean and comfortable, the facility was nice, and the extras were a pleasant touch. Every staff member I dealt with was cheerful and really friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

The staff made the biggest impression on me. They were friendly, helpful, and always ready to offer assistance. Breakfast was generous, and I liked that dinner was also available as a complimentary meal, though I didn't try it. The room setup was useful, with a little dining area, a two-burner stove, mini fridge, and microwave. The rooms and decor are somewhat dated, but that wasn't a big deal to me.

We'd stayed here more than 15 times over the years, and it was always our go-to in Sierra Vista. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly, except for Johnathan at the front desk. Checking out took far too long: I waited over 10 minutes while he checked a room someone had just left, then asked for a paper receipt and waited another 10 minutes while he inspected my room for stains. As a repeat customer, I was really upset by that treatment. My husband was waiting in the parking lot and was unhappy too. Not sure we'll come back.

We spent four nights here over Thanksgiving in November. The staff were welcoming, and the hotel was well kept both inside and out. Our room was spotless. Breakfast was the one letdown because they ran out of eggs, so we had to make do with what remained, but the attendant managed the rest of the meal well. I'll stay here again on my next trip to Sierra Vista.
