We still haven't received the full refund, and this whole booking has been a nightmare. My husband accidentally chose the wrong night, so we called right away to move it to the upcoming Saturday. The first call center agent said the reservation couldn't be changed and advised us to request a refund and book another room for the correct night. We tried the hotel directly, but couldn't reach a person. Our refund request was denied. When I called again, the second agent said she'd ask the hotel directly, and they returned just $40 of the $200. We've now paid $400 for one night at a very basic hotel. On my third call, the agent said they'd put in another request for the full refund, but the money still hasn't come through. Honestly, I'd rather have slept in the car at -41 degrees than deal with this.

The power kept cutting out during the snowstorm, and there was no backup generator. My friend has sleep apnea, and every outage made him jolt awake like he was dying. If you rely on medical equipment, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The trash outside was overflowing, and dog poop sat by the front doors for two days. The attendant just kept covering it with a rug, even after several people reported it more than once. After a long day on the trails, I wanted a drink, but the woman at the bar was extremely rude when I asked about mixed drinks. I don't drink, so I know nothing about them. The pool felt like it left dirt or dead skin all over my legs. The gym also needs more equipment, since it wouldn't work well for several people at once. I'll choose a different hotel next time.

The beach area and fire pits right on Lake Superior were a lovely place to watch the sunset, and the night sky was beautiful too. We had a clean room with a lake view and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included, with sausage, eggs, waffles, yogurt, bread, juice, and more. We also ate at the hotel's restaurant. The menu isn't big, but what we tried was good. It's a handy base for exploring the area and so close to the porkies. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were glad we stayed for all five nights.

We booked the jacuzzi suite, and that tub was incredible. The mattresses were firm, which suited us both, and we slept really well. This little place is off the beaten path, but it was one of our better road trip stays. We didn't stay for breakfast, though we did have dinner at the bar-restaurant. The $10 salad and soup bar was well worth it. There were lots of snowmobiles around and plenty of outdoor things to do.
