Holiday Inn Express Silver City by IHG

For $300 a night, this was easily the worst place we’ve stayed on work and youth sports trips. The front desk woman was incredibly rude when we arrived and seemed almost offended to see us. Our room wasn’t clean, and we got only two minutes of hot water. Breakfast was missing items.

Breakfast was the highlight, with several choices including hot food. The lobby is spacious and pleasant, and coffee is available around the clock, though the machines seemed to need filter paper or cleaning out. The gym was decent. Our room had a Keurig, a large dispenser bottle, and an unusual freestanding closet with a front door and a side compartment for the iron and ironing board. We had to ask for shampoo because the bottle was empty. The lighted bathroom mirror seemed to help with fogging even without a fan, and the desk had plenty of modern charging plugs. The hotel sits about a block back from the main tourist area, so there’s less traffic and it’s a little quieter. The elevators weren’t working, which made hauling luggage up several flights a pain. Doors slammed through the night because they didn’t have soft close hinges or closers. We don’t usually stay at Holiday Inn, but found an opening while driving toward Silver City on a holiday weekend. It wasn’t a bad stay, and we’d come back to see the town. The other staff were great, except for the new guy, who clearly needs quite a bit more training. He’s new, though, so I’ll give him some grace. Mary, the woman with neck tattoos and dark, neck length hair, gave me the worst customer service I’ve ever had. Her disrespect was unbelievable, and her behavior was disgusting and completely intolerable. When I left, she even laughed in my face after seeing how unhappy I was. This was a horrible experience because of Mary. I’d be shocked if she kept her job working directly with customers.

They made me feel at home and as comfortable as possible, and I’m grateful to the Holiday Inn Express staff from the bottom of my heart. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar is a bonus: the kitchen lady cooks homemade food, and it’s healthy too. It’s pet friendly as well, so pet owners should feel welcome.
