Hampton Inn Silver Spring

The people working here were outstanding. Everyone greeted us with a smile, worked hard to make the stay enjoyable, and gave us good suggestions for restaurants and local attractions. The clean, comfortable room and wonderful breakfast each morning made us very pleased with the hotel, and anything running low was quickly replenished. We didn’t get to use the pool, but it looked like a good size and the water felt warm. There are many restaurants and stores nearby, and the metro is only a few blocks away. We plan to return.

The room was nice and clean, but the stay was full of broken promises. I chose this hotel over other options because breakfast was advertised, and I bought a parking package. After a long day, I was told there were no parking passes left and no breakfast. I parked two blocks away and paid for it. As a Hilton Honors member, the only offer was $10 off my bill, and I never received the promised $10 for the inconvenience. I could have booked a regular stay, saved $40, and avoided the third-party parking charge.

The valet staff were polite and did their jobs well, and the mandatory valet service itself was very good. The hotel was decent, but front desk service was awful. Twice we asked for extra towels and they never arrived, even after we went downstairs, got an apology, and were told they’d be sent right up. A request for a clean fitted sheet after a spill took two hours, and they brought the wrong size, not even a fitted sheet. We also reported that the pool area had no towels, but an hour and a half later, after we’d left, there still weren’t any. The worst issue was that twice during our four-night stay, the front desk answered the valet phone but didn’t pass along our ticket number to get our vehicle. Valet needs 20 minutes’ notice, so both times we had to rush because we lost that time waiting for the car. The valet sits only 50 feet from the desk. The front desk workers seemed too busy chatting and flirting with each other to do their jobs properly.

Stacey and the whole staff made a difficult reason for our visit easier to handle, and even pleasant. They were accommodating when I needed to extend our stay at least twice, and were always around to help with restaurant suggestions, extra parking, or even finding a church. The location was convenient, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Room cleaning had to be scheduled, with things still in a covid reality, and the restaurant was clearly closed. I’d put a little more effort into the breakfast take-away boxes and include a spot of tea, not just coffee. Thanks again to everyone.
