Highpoint Hotel

It's too far into town to be convenient for an overnight stop.

Really good food, great people, and a great place.

We had a lovely view of Sioux Falls from a very nice room, done in warm gray and white with a modern look. The tiled shower with glass doors was beautiful, and the Highpointe bar and lounge overlooks the city. Its wine list and appetizer menu were nice. We ordered the boneless chicken, ribs, and margaritas bread, and really enjoyed them. Melissa greeted us warmly and made check-in easy. I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

The room was spacious and clean, with a large walk-in shower, and the hotel itself felt modern, comfortable, and very clean. But the breakfast was a major letdown. Hotels.com described it as a buffet, which was one of the reasons I booked. What they served was more like a limited continental spread: cereal, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, waffles, packaged foods, and drinks. There were no basic hot items such as eggs, bacon, or sausage, and no substantial protein option. Most of the choices were processed and carb-heavy. For this price and a listing that promises a buffet, I expected more. I've had better breakfasts at much cheaper hotels. I liked the hotel, but I'm not sure I'd return unless breakfast improves. A proper breakfast matters a lot to me when I travel. I hope they update the Hotels.com listing so guests know what is actually offered.
