Eagle Bay Inn

I nearly passed on this place because the Google street view didn’t look like the kind of inn I had in mind. I’m glad I read more reviews and gave it a try. I prefer somewhere small, quiet, and not touristy, and this was a gem. You can walk or take a short ride to town, but it doesn’t feel right in the middle of all the people and restaurants. The area has small businesses, homes, and beautiful water across the road. Staff were kind, and the shuttle service is fantastic. It feels like a mix of a traditional hotel and a quaint bed and breakfast, with just under 20 spotless but inviting rooms. The room, themed around the northern lights, was spotless down to the details. The shower was immaculate, including the clean white caulking and top edge; the window tracks were spotless; and there wasn’t dust on the light fixtures. The bulbs matched, and the curtains and rod gave full blackout coverage. The table and desk lights had outlets for phones, a CPAP, and other things. The TV was generous in size, the fridge and microwave were immaculate, and the wall hooks were secure and well placed with no old holes or damaged plaster. The beds were comfortable, with a good variety and quantity of pillows and blankets. Cold breakfast foods like bagels, pastries, and yogurt were available 24/7, which was so useful with flights at odd hours and travel throwing off your sleep. At 4 am local time, you can grab something without going out or having planned ahead. I adore staying here and could go on about the details. I’ve already told my husband we’re coming back for a vacation, with Sitka’s landscape as a bonus. If one outside photo has you hesitating, try it anyway.

We were here for a month while waiting for housing, and Vicki, the owner, made the hotel feel like home. She always had a warm smile when we came down for breakfast. My room was cleaned regularly and had everything I needed, and requests were taken care of promptly. The staff were wonderful, too. Once I got locked out after regular hours, and someone from the front desk came to let me in within minutes. I honestly can’t recommend the place enough. It’s hard to find somewhere that feels more like home away from home.

We’ve had great stays and look forward to seeing you again in April. Vicki and Kyle, you’re both amazing, so friendly and personable. The whole inn, rooms included, is immaculate. Vicki’s a trip, like the grandma you wish you had. Thank you!

The ocean view was amazing, and the host even made sure we got a close-up look at an eagle as we were leaving. Breakfast was available all day, which worked well with flights coming and going at different hours. The airport shuttle was a big plus, too. We spent a day walking through town and the national park with no trouble. Great location, gorgeous views, and an amazing host made it feel like a home away from home. The memorable host and setting made the visit better than we’d planned, and I’d recommend this hotel to anyone going to Sitka.
