Southeast Resort

The manager was great when we ran into trouble with our third-party booking, though there wasn’t much she could do. Next time I’ll book through the hotel reservation desk instead. We stayed at Southeast and Sitka Hotels, and both were clean with helpful staff. We had a wonderful time in Sitka and would happily stay at either place again. I also stayed at Baranof Lodge last time, with no problems, and enjoyed its friendly little bar and food trailers. I’ll be back for sure.

There’s a nice restaurant attached. The building’s older and has been updated, though a lot of the furniture still looks old. With the summer months having to carry the place through the whole year, going fancy probably wouldn’t make sense. It has baseboard heaters and a floor fan.

The location and employees are great, and the customer service was very nice. The rooms felt dated, though, and the strong chemical smell was awful, almost like pesticide spray. Bed bugs??? The restaurant menu was limited and the food just okay, though a garden salad is hard to mess up. This place could be good, but I’d recommend somewhere else instead of the old Super 8. I heard it had the same owner, and wouldn’t be surprised.

I’ve visited Stika often with my family and stayed at this hotel several times. It used to be my preferred place, but this is the first hotel where I’ve ever encountered bed bugs, on both level 5 AND 2. I told the front desk right away. The kind girl who I assume was working overnight apologized and said the next day’s staff would handle it. The woman on duty the next day was less than kind, and the “manager” still hasn’t contacted us about a refund. Please listen to the earlier bedbug reviews and do your research. I’d urge you to choose the nearby Aspen or somewhere else.
