Hampton Inn Slidell

The staff and breakfast were good, and I had no issues with the hotel staff. But the room needs work and doesn’t meet Hilton standards. It had the expected amenities, but there was a bleach smell covering something else, rusty fixtures, patchwork on the bathroom wall, and a loose ceiling vent. That’s not what I expect.

The staff were nice and the location was great, but I regret not looking more carefully at the reviews before booking. I wouldn’t stay at this location again. The bathroom and other parts of the room looked poorly cleaned or maintained, including the surfaces, baseboards, walls, shower, and even the window. There was also an odd smell when I entered. I woke up with sniffles and a scratchy throat, then saw several other guests coughing and sniffling at breakfast. I wish I’d checked reviews for this individual hotel instead of assuming it would be decent because of the company.

The bathroom had bright lighting that worked well for makeup, and the shower had good pressure with adjustable nozzle settings. Coffee was available by the elevator, and they put out cookies in the evening. We were at the Hampton Inn Slidell from October 10-12 for a wedding and had a great stay. Everyone was friendly, smiling, and greeted us each morning. The fire alarm went off around 2:30 a.m. the first night, but the staff apologized and handled it well. Breakfast was great too, especially the omelettes with peppers that my husband liked and the chocolate Belgian waffles. Clean, comfortable, and relaxed. We’d stay again.

The service was great, but the rest of the stay was dragged down by the rooms. Our first one smelled like urine, so we asked to move. The second had a strong deodorizer smell, as though they were trying to cover up what seemed to be mold throughout the property. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you can make very big sacrifices around health and safety.
