Bird in Hand Family Inn

We love this Inn and are already looking forward to another visit. The location puts you in the heart of Amish country, with everything we like an easy drive away. There's plenty for families to do on site, including three pools, a big hot tub, a kids' play area, mini-golf, a small petting zoo, and a walking area. Staff are friendly, rates reasonable, and our room was clean and comfortable. Our April 2026 stay was just as good as our first visit more than a decade ago.

The room felt updated and was really clean, with great amenities. We appreciated having a fridge and microwave, plus a new Keurig and all the coffee supplies. The location was convenient, too. One of the nicer hotel rooms we've had in a while, and we'd definitely book it again if we're back in the area.

The room was a bit dated, but it was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and we loved our stay. I was glad to find a Bible in the nightstand, just where it should be. We'll definitely visit again.

We ended up leaving early and continuing our drive back to Florida. The shower never worked properly, and after a brief stream of water the first night, maintenance spent 20 minutes the next morning getting a fair flow. By then we'd had enough. The room was in an old section that seemed untouched for years: worn carpet, a very old mattress, low-quality TV, and that faulty shower. It felt like a 1960s motel needing a major update, and nearby chain hotels cost less. We booked a king room for two nights, December 1 and 2, after my wife remembered this hotel fondly from when she lived in New York. We arrived in the late afternoon, then ate at a nearby BBQ place because the on-site restaurant was closed Monday. We asked for a refund and were refused, though they did refund the night we didn't use. We think the whole stay should have been refunded. The booking site said just one room remained, but only four rooms in the front section were occupied. My wife no longer wants to visit Lancaster, and those old memories aren't ones she'll cherish now.
