Chamonix Condominiums by Frias

We stayed in 27, and it was probably the nicest condo I've been in. There were just two couples, but it was spacious enough to sleep two more. The modern decor, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds made it easy to settle in. It had pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, everything needed to cook. Two separate rooms gave each couple privacy, and one had two double beds that could easily be pushed together. We loved sitting on the balcony and looking at the mountains through the many windows. I didn't see AC, so I wonder if it gets hot in summer. The bathrooms were heated, and we had to keep the door shut or the bedroom would warm up. The nights were cool while we were there, so it wasn't too bad. There's a grocery store, liquor store, and pizza place nearby, though they don't stay open very late.

We were pleased with the renovated unit #27, though there were a number of quirks around the property. Our first night was a bit of a hassle: I hadn't realized the front desk closed at 5 PM even though check-in was at 4. There was an envelope with information on the lobby door, but the after-hours phone number on one sheet was wrong, and we hadn't been given the lockbox code for the magnetic keycards. A phone call got us the code. A nice surprise was having the room bed cleaned after our first night. In the unit, the master shower drained poorly and filled with standing water; its handle was loose too. The master bedroom thermostat and heater didn't work, and the balcony door was open and unlocked when we arrived, making the room cold. A desk drawer handle was also very loose. The pool deck's loose pebbles made it hard to walk, though luckily we had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. The route between the parking garage and elevator was awkward.

#37 felt like a cozy cabin, with a great view, a roomy living area, and a real fireplace. The kitchen had everything we needed. It could use renovation, but we really enjoyed our stay. Chamonix staff were super helpful, and their free shuttle goes all around town. Highly recommend!

We spent 20 days in Unit 40 and wouldn't return. Management was just okay and may not care. There were lots of problems: most things needed repair, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the windows needed fixing, probably replacing. Wasps got into the unit through loose screens, though fortunately they were friendly. The washer and dryer worked well, and the kitchen was nicely equipped.
