I've been to Socorro a few times and know what other lodging options are around, so I gave this place five stars. It isn't the newest, but it's been remodeled and upgraded recently. Breakfast isn't served in a restaurant, though you can make waffles yourself in the lobby. I enjoyed it, and at a great price it was better than continental breakfast.

The beds were super comfortable, and I had a great stay while oryx hunting nearby. It's easy to get to, the service was great, and the room was clean. We left too early to try breakfast, so I can't comment on that. One sink wouldn't drain, but with Teo sinks it wasn't a big deal.

Being close to almost everything was useful when we didn't have a vehicle, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The rooms were falling apart, with wall cracks and mold in the bathroom. During an already difficult time, the manager's attitude made things worse. My family was stranded in New Mexico after an accident while moving across the country, waiting for car repairs. The manager showed no compassion and overcharged us because we stayed 25 minutes past checkout on the day the car was finally fixed. When repairs took longer, she had an attitude about extending our stay. She also acted as though she was doing us a favor by offering the same rate we could have gotten online when making a new reservation, instead of extending our stay.

At 0300 on 1-16-26, I came by late and rang the doorbell, waiting two minutes between rings. After the fourth ring, the front desk attendant came down, opened the door, and rudely asked, “What do you want?” When I started asking about a room, she interrupted me twice and snapped that I should leave and find another hotel since it was nicer than theirs anyway. I barely got four words out. It was surprisingly rude.
