Super 8 by Wyndham Socorro

During one of the roughest times in my life, this hotel gave me stability and a sense of belonging. It became a safe haven, not just somewhere to sleep. Gautam at the front desk was amazing, and the customer service was the best I’ve experienced at a hotel. The staff did everything they could to help us feel comfortable. Every interaction felt personal. The front desk team welcomed me with sincere smiles, and housekeeping made sure my room was spotless, cozy, and comforting. They noticed little things without my having to ask, from a kind word in the hallway to a warm cup of coffee and breakfast in the dining area, or checking in to see if I needed anything. Their compassion and kindness made a lasting difference when I felt overwhelmed. I’m deeply grateful and will always remember the human connection they gave me. If you want a place where people truly care, this is it. ❤️

I paid $69, and for that price this was a solid, safe, quiet place to stay. There were renovation notices up. The drywall in our closet wasn’t finished, and there was visible mold growing under the AC. The fridge didn’t work, and although a sign promised HBO, they didn’t have it. The front benches were leaning to one side, and fixing up the entrance would make it more welcoming. On the plus side, the room had a nice new laminate wood floor and was very clean. The girl at the counter was helpful and nice, and the new beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was good, with muffins, a waffle maker, yogurt, hot good coffee, creamer, milk, and a spotless kitchen. I never felt unsafe, even when I went out at 2am for a cigarette. For a quick, inexpensive stay, it delivered for what we paid. I’d stay again.

This Super 8 is shabby and needs serious TLC. The rooms were basically clean, but the whole place could use a deep scrub, down on your hands and knees kind of cleaning. I’m not sure if the guy at the desk was the owner. If he was, he doesn’t seem to do much to maintain the rooms. The bathtub drain was stuck closed. When I complained, he freed it and gestured that I could unstick it myself if it happened again. What!!! I demanded another room, and the light beside the bed in that one didn’t work, which was inconvenient. Breakfast was ok.

I’ve stayed here three times, and overall it’s been a great experience. The price each night was appealing, though I was skeptical at first. My first room was a bit dirty, but I managed. The second time, the room was much cleaner and better, with no problems, and the owner was nice and understanding. He was happy to see me back. On my third visit, the room was just as good, and the owner was full of joy when I walked in. It depends on which room you get, but you can report it if it isn’t to your liking. If you keep coming back, expect a warm welcome. It’s cheap, better than having no bed, and a simple option if you really need to save money. I’d definitely recommend it for that.
