Solomons Inn Resort + Marina

The front desk employees are the best, always working hard and keeping a smile and positive attitude. I usually enjoy staying here, but the last few visits have been absolutely horrible, and I’m adding pictures and video. I was holding off on posting anything negative in case they’re dealing with employee turnover. Management was definitely notified. Please do better.

The rooms are in poor shape, and the walls are so thin you can hear everything. The in-room WiFi was too weak to use. The staff were sweet, though. Creekside was inconsistent too: the staff seemed unsure what they were doing, and they often ran out of key ingredients.

It’s a beautiful hotel, which made the poor service and disappointing stay all the more frustrating. I’d paid for a Water View King Suite, but was assigned a standard room with no view. I called the front desk as soon as I saw it and asked to switch, but was told nothing was available and they couldn’t help. I then asked for my charges to be adjusted to match the room I received, and they directed me to email the manager. I emailed General Manager Lee Baines and never got a reply.

The rooms were clean, and housekeeping staff were friendly and attentive. Our stay had some real conveniences, though worn and run-down spots in both elevators didn’t match the booking pictures. Pets are allowed for a fee, and there’s a big treasure box in the lobby for pet owners. The old tennis court is a disaster. Maybe the owners could repair it, or put in a couple of pickleball courts, since there aren’t any in Solomon’s. That might bring in more revenue. Just wishful thinking, but I couldn’t give five stars because of the room details. Solomons Inn Resort and Marina, known as Holiday Inn Solomons about a year earlier, is on Backcreek Loop, just a four-minute drive from Solomons Island. It seems to be aiming for a mid-luxury feel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Junae at the front desk was especially pleasant, always wearing a big smile and willing to try to help guests. WiFi is available, and breakfast is included from 6:30 to 9:00 AM on weekdays and 7:00 to 10:00 AM on weekends. There was coffee, oatmeal, milk and almond milk, tea, individually wrapped cake slices, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, orange and apple juice, bottled spring water, fresh apples and oranges, and different flavors of yogurt. There’s also a microwave and a couple of vending machines, handy for a quick snack from the pool area. The pool has a lifeguard from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and there’s a fitness center. The outdoor pool area has plenty of chairs, umbrellas, furniture for larger families, and rugs that make it easier to walk around in hot weather. There’s also a marina, restaurant, and outdoor bars.
