The Hadsten Solvang, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Breakfast was a highlight. It felt closer to a restaurant meal than standard hotel fare, and the veggie croissant with potatoes and sautéed vegetables was delicious. The Hadsten Solvang, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is just steps from restaurants, shops, and bars, with a cozy, luxurious look and European details that brought back memories of living in Germany. The lobby and bar are lovely, and you can buy wine, beer, or plush robes there. Our room was spacious, with a modern walk-in shower and two adjustable shower heads. The bed was very comfortable, though a little squeaky, and I slept great. It felt thoughtfully put together. Hilton, you did a wonderful job. I’d happily stay again next time I’m in Solvang.

We liked the location for Solvang’s restaurants and tasting rooms, and the bartenders were friendly with a solid selection of wines by the glass. The hotel was a good pick for the price. Our family of four, including a toddler and an infant, fit comfortably in the king room with our crib. The room looked recently remodeled, and the beds and sheets were great, though the pillows were a bit lumpy. We were disappointed to find there’s no longer a pool, since the photos made us expect one. The shower fixtures were unlabeled, and we had to let the water run for about two minutes before it got hot. A hot water recirculator would help.

We tried to change or cancel our reservation on the day we were due to arrive, just a few hours after check-in began, because our travel plans fell apart. The receptionist put us on hold for ages, said she’d check with management, and never got back to us. Instead, she marked us as a no-show and charged us. When we called the next day, another receptionist said a manager would contact us. We still haven’t heard from anyone and feel we were cheated out of our money. The customer service was terrible. I’ll be telling friends and family in the area to avoid this place.

Everyone was lovely, and they even called me when I left something important in my room. Service was great, and Aaron made excellent drinks. The outdoor seating area with fire pits is relaxing, and the rooms are nice. The wings were large and crunchy outside; the salmon dinner was just okay. They also show the dodger games!
