Black River Inn Bed and Breakfast

We've been to Black River Inn twice, both times in winter, and each visit was wonderful. Soaking in a hot bath and relaxing by the fireplace in our room made it feel especially cozy and peaceful. Bob and Judine are kind, friendly hosts who take great care of their guests. We're already looking forward to returning.

The grounds are lovely, and the owners have thought of little practical things, like a shelf at the top of the stairs where you can set your coffee while opening your door. Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. Breakfast was delicious, and the place is right by the bike trail. If you're visiting South Haven, this B&B deserves more than five stars.

We felt so at home with Bob and Judine, who are lovely, welcoming people. This was a surprise birthday trip for my husband, and we had an amazing time. The room was clean and comfortable, with a bed and pillows we both liked, which can make or break a stay for us. After a day walking downtown, the in-room jacuzzi was just right, and they offered essential oils for it. The room was made up daily with fresh towels. There was a fire pit at night; we were too tired to go, but the other couple staying there enjoyed it. Breakfast was wonderful. Judine's apple cinnamon muffins, served warm, were heavenly. The coffee was good even for me, though I'm not a coffee drinker, and they made decaf for us. The dining room felt like a little restaurant in their home, with cranberry juice mix, orange juice, and infused water out each morning alongside the coffee. They also have bikes guests can use, and there's a nearby trail. Black River Inn had everything we could have wanted, and we'll be back. Thank you for having us!

The dirt road on the way in made me wonder if we'd made a mistake, but staying somewhere else would have been the real mistake. The property is beautifully kept, welcoming, and the cleanest place I've stayed, including high-end hotels and other B&Bs. Even the floors shine. Our room was comfortable, spotless, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was fantastic: homemade blueberry muffins, quiche lorraine, sliced banana, strawberry and kiwi, sausage I hope they'll serve again tomorrow, plus fresh orange or cranberry juice at the table. This is where I'll stay next time I'm back in the area. Five big stars!
