Holiday Inn Express South Haven

The location was good, and the staff were friendly. Our room felt cozy and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was okay, though most things seemed overcooked the first morning and I’d expected to see more bagels. The cinnamon rolls were always good. We didn’t try the pool; it looked a bit small, though I’m sure kids would enjoy it.

We’ll be back. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even people who weren’t IHG members were treated amazingly. I’m an IHG member and have stayed at other Holiday Inns, but this one has been the best by far. The rooms and hallways smelled amazing, and “clean” hardly does it justice.

The room was clean and the front desk staff were pleasant, but we left hungry. We came down for breakfast at 9, half an hour before it ended, and most of the food was already gone. Nothing was replenished while we were there, so people eventually left when there was nothing to eat. We stay in hotels around the country quite often and have never had this happen before. We were there on New Year’s Eve with my three children. The pool was closed for maintenance the next morning, which seemed like a really poor time to close it with so many families staying for the holiday. One family asked me for a Band-Aid after an accident at the pool. The front desk had none, and the first aid kit by the pool had two empty boxes in it, but no Band-Aids.

The staff were very friendly, and our room was quiet and clean. We were there over the holidays, when the property was especially quiet, with few other guests. Breakfast was the usual complimentary hotel fare, and coffee was available around the clock. After our first day out, we came back to find fresh towels. They hadn’t made the bed, which was fine with us. We didn’t use the pool or the fitness center, which has a treadmill, free weights, a stationary bike, and an elliptical. For this level of hotel, it’s a fairly decent property.
