Comfort Inn & Suites South Hill I-85

The staff were polite and helpful, which was the good part. The hotel itself was in awful shape. There was a dead bug on my pillow when I turned it over, and roaches crawled on the walls. I checked each item before packing it into plastic bags so I wouldn’t take any roaches home. Men were smoking weed right outside the hotel. The carpet was stained everywhere, there was mold on the heater and inside the shower, the bathroom sink kept clogging, and the coffee machine was filthy. The shower curtain holder was rusty, doors were scratched, lights didn’t work, and the lampshade was torn up.

The room was clean, the price was fair, and the friendly staff, nice breakfast and convenient travel location were all pluses. The building is definitely dated, though. The elevator was clunky, the bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way, and the room had a slight odor. The building’s fire alarm went off at 6:30 a.m.

My clothes still smelled like smoke days later after both the lobby and my room smelled of it. The room itself was shabby, and the place badly needs a renovation. The refrigerator didn’t work. They said they were getting a replacement at Walmart two blocks away, but when I asked again two hours later, they said they had to go to Home Depot, also close by. It never got addressed. The fitness center was tiny and had almost nothing in it. They charged full price after saying they’d give me a reduction. Best Western Plus was $30 cheaper and much better in every way, and even Comfort parking was awful. Don’t stay there!

The room and bathroom were clean. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, coffee and water were available 24 hours, and the pet-friendly setup and truck parking worked perfectly.
