Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Jacksonville by IHG

We came with a 12U sports team and tried to arrange a block of rooms for the parents. At first, the booking process seemed smooth and helpful, but rooms ended up under the wrong names, some were given away before we arrived, and reservation emails were wrong or never came. Check-in was a nightmare, slow and handled with paper copies from a binder. After we checked in, the front desk woman harassed our parents, blaming our group for noise and gathering in the lobby. Another sports group had been there for hours before us, drinking and enjoying themselves. We were threatened with being asked to leave just for sitting in the lobby. The rooms were very outdated and falling apart. Checking out was another ordeal when I wanted an itemized bill, and they couldn’t email it. Fortunately, I got a correct printed receipt. Holiday Inn Express should be concerned about having its name on this particular place.

Breakfast was good, and the front desk staff were very helpful. The hotel was quiet, clean, and comfortable, just what I usually expect from Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Thanks for a great stay.

The shower head was green with calcium deposits, and the bathtub liner was cracked, chipped, and coming off in chunks. Bathroom tiles were cracked and shifted under my feet. My carpet was stained, and the curtains were dry-rotted and falling apart. I had to stay here for two nights, and as someone who travels for work and stays in plenty of hotels, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had.

We had five rooms and every one had problems. Some rooms were clean and some weren’t, and one even had a hole in the floor. Bathroom tiles were coming loose, curtains were ripped, and the AC didn’t work. The place is badly outdated. The breakfast was about the only thing that felt like Holiday Inn. They might as well take down the Holiday Inn branding and call it a Super 8. There’s a newer, nicer Sleep Inn practically next door.
