I was unsure about valet being the only parking option, but it worked smoothly. They give you a number and a unique code to text about 15 minutes before you need the car. Everyone on the valet team I met was wonderful, and Erin at the front desk was super helpful. The concierge also had a kind gesture, offering to fill my bottle with cold water from the office. It’s an older but well-maintained resort, with a great location and restaurants within walking distance.
My dad booked a room thinking it would be bigger than it was, and we were disappointed when we saw its actual size. Management let us upgrade to a luxurious two-room suite, and it was amazing. Erin and Courtney were so hospitable and made space for us even though it was inconvenient for them. We really appreciate the staff and how much they improved our stay. - Sager
The location is great and the rooms are good, but the hospitality was exceptionally poor. For such an expensive hotel chain, I expected much better. We arrived around midnight with my big family and toddler. The booking was under my name, but I’d forgotten my ID. I understand a soft copy wouldn’t be accepted, so I asked how to add my husband to the reservation so he could show his ID instead. The front desk woman basically told me to figure it out. It took me nearly 30 minutes to sort it out with Expedia, by which point my toddler was very sleepy and cranky. The next day I spilled water in one of the rooms and asked for the sheet to be changed. They came and left the sheets in the common area. You could at least put a clean sheet on the bed. Is this really hospitality?
We stayed for a few days as one stop on our trip, and it was a nice change of pace. The place has a lodge feel and sits by a marina. We parked our small motor home in the immediate lot, in a spot at the back. Whole Foods, restaurants, and shops are an easy walk away, and there’s a bus stop nearby for rides into town to the casinos and ski hills. We were surprised the community bus is currently free. Next door by the marina, we had happy hour food. The ahi tacos at hilton were really good, especially for a hotel happy hour.
The staff made the property even better. Kaylin had everything taken care of before we arrived, Karen was one of the best front desk greeters we’ve ever met, and Nathan at the concierge desk took time to suggest great things to do around Lake Tahoe. Eric from club sales was a lot of fun and made the presentation enjoyable too. The property itself is amazing, and you couldn’t ask for a better spot on Lake Tahoe. We can’t say enough good things about the Hilton staff and property in South Lake Tahoe, and look forward to coming back.
