The beach is beautiful and private, a peaceful spot and lovely for photos. The surroundings feel serene and protected, with stunning wildlife, and sometimes you might even see bears. The whole place has an ancient feel to it. The new dock is finished, and walking all around it was honestly awesome. The front desk people were really cool and helpful. Vacasa no longer owns the place; Avari has taken over, and I believe good things are coming. It's such a serene, wonderful place to spend a vacation. If you get the chance, this is the place to go.

We rented a condo for family birthdays, and the location was perfect, just a short walk to the jacuzzi and beach. When the dryer had an issue, they sent a tech right away and got it fixed. Highly recommend this place!

When we finally got into our room, there was a trash bag and broom left on the floor. The housekeeper had apparently left without cleaning, and some supposed clean towels had long strands of hair on them. Our entry code hadn't worked when my dad, stepmom, and I arrived, either. Being by Lake Tahoe in the sunshine is usually hard to beat, but this stay proved otherwise. I was appalled. We were in room 430, and I'd strongly advise future South Lake visitors to avoid that room and Lakeland Village resorts altogether.

On our second and final night of a two-night stay, a horrible smell started coming from behind the fridge, like rotten meat or a dead rat. We couldn't even stay in the kitchen. I told the front desk, and someone came to look but couldn't find where it was coming from. They sprayed air freshener instead, which made the mix of smells unbearable. Nobody followed up, offered another room, sent housekeeping, or tried to clean. We were exhausted and stuck in the smelly room, so we covered the fridge with a garbage bag ourselves. Management only tried to contact us after checkout, far too late to help. I'm really disappointed with how they handled it.

The views, amenities, and exceptional care make this one of the top choices for a Lake Tahoe vacation. We had a wonderful eight-night stay, and the property was lovely with wonderful staff. Michael Fitzpatrick from the front desk team deserves a special mention. We arrived late, and he graciously helped with our luggage while showing us how to get to our room. People like him are what make a property special.
